Beer in the Wilderness
I sat down yesterday at my local brewery/taproom (White Street Brewing Company) and had beers that I have become familiar with and accustomed to. I mention this only because it was the first time in almost 20 days that I was at or near the brewery. Early this month, my spouse and I embarked on a well deserved 25th anniversary cruise and land excursion to the largest state in the US, the land of the midnight sun, Alaska. As I am always on the lookout for beer, I had fun just looking for (and finding) many little breweries and beers that I had not known of before. The remoteness…

Beerless in Seattle
Arrived in Kent, Washington yesterday afternoon and have been resting up after a full day of travel. Today, though, we are heading into Seattle to do a bit of sightseeing and perhaps a bit of shopping. I am just hoping that I can squeeze in a brewery visit or two. There will definitely be craft beer on the menu today. I am armed with a brewery list and GPS on the phone. Wish me luck.

The Cellarmans Creed
This is my beer. There are many like it, but this one is mine. My beer is my best friend. It is my life. I must master it as I must master my life. My beer, without me, is useless. Without my beer, I am useless. I must drink my beer true. I must brew faster than my enemy who is trying to outbrew me. I must outbrew him before he outbrews me. I will… My beer and I know that what counts in bars is not the rounds we pour, the noise of our taps, nor the joke we make. We know that it is the tips that count.…

Oktoberwhat? Oktoberfest
As I finish the first of the holiday travel recap articles I am still going about the business of making changes to the website to reflect what is happening in the beer world. And there is really nothing bigger in the beer world than the annual German beer festival we all know and love “Oktoberfest”. I, myself, have not had the opportunity to attend this festival yet, but there is an off chance that next fall may be the time. Until then I will continue to put on my own little rendition of the festival. We have about 9 chicken, 8 packages of bratwurst, 5 quarts of potato salad, 24 pretzels…

No Time..No Time
Well, just had no time to work on my first “best of worst of” for my trip (damn bill paying job). So I hope this “Drunk Baby” meme will be okay for now. Cheers.

Best of Worst of
Well, I finally have time to sit down and go over my recent trip to England, Scotland and Ireland. I though I’d take the opportunity to do a best of/worst of for each of the countries that I visited. This could include food/pubs/people/tours or just about any facet of the trip. I had a fantastic time on the trip and have many memories to keep. I got to see old friends and make some new ones. All in all it was a great trip and will definately be returning at some point. I hope to do at least one blog post per country over the next few days and hope…

Continuing Education
Another year has passed. Cellarmonk’s own MeisterSgt (TheCellarMonk’s big brother) gains another year today. As they say, with age comes wisdom. This applies to most things in life, but I am especially proud of the fact that MeisterSgt is continuing in his beer education. No, he is not headed back to school to learn the fine art of brewing or the machinations of being a cellarman. He is just broadening his tastes in beer. Five year ago very little other than macro could be found in his fridge. Although there can still be some found, it is much less prevalent. He has moved on to more exotic beers. For some reason, everytime TheCellarMonk…
