March 2013 Featured Brewery – Inveralmond Brewery Limited
CellarMonk’s “Featured Brewery” for the month of March is the The Inveralmond Brewery Limited, located in Perth, Scotland. History Replacing the last brewery in Perth (closed its doors in 1966), Inveralmond opened its doors in 1997. Seemingly in a constant state of growth since then, the brewery just added three new 30 barrel triple-purpose vessels (fermentation, conditioning and carbonating). Beers Inveralmond has crafted a number of great beers making use of the naturally pure waters of the Perthshire region. Their lineup includes both classic and seasonal ales. November 2012 Featured Brewery – Moylan’s Brewing Company
CellarMonk’s “Featured Brewery” for the month of November is Moylan’s Brewing Company, located in Novato, California. History In 1995 Moylan’s Brewing Co. opened at Rowland Plaza. Moylan’s Brewery & Restaurant, Novato’s only brewpub, was a $3.5 million project that has established a strong following among North Marin’s beer connoisseurs. By constructing the brewpub in an empty lot, Moylan’s was able to increase efficiency and productivity, while still leaving room for expansion as the establishment’s popularity grew. The location at Rowland Plaza was chosen because it provided good freeway visibility and might attract a greater number of customers from the nearby theatre and corporate offices. June 2012 Featured Brewery – Port Townsend Brewing Company
CellarMonk’s “Featured Brewery” for the month of June is Port Townsend Brewing Company, located in Port Townsend, Washington. History The original Port Townsend Brewing Company was established in 1905, but fell victim to Washington state’s prohibition initiative of 1914 (that went into effect in 1916). The brewery tried to continue by making a line of non-alcoholic beverages, but was unable to remain a going concern shortly after 1916. The modern brewery was established in 1997 and when the doors opened was producing only two beers. The brewery currently brews more than 10 beers. CellarMonk’s “Featured Brewery” for the month of April is Weisses Bräuhaus G. Schneider & Sohn GmbH. Commonly referred to as Schneider-Weisse, this brewery has a heritage dating back to 1872. The beer produced by this brewery are standard bearers in their style and are known the world over. Schneider-Weisse History Schneider Weisse was founded in 1872 in Munich by Georg I. Schneider. He was a royal brewer (at the time, only the monarch could brew this style). As wheat beer came out of fashion, the king decided to sell the right to brew wheat beer. DuClaw History DuClaw Brewing Company opened it’s first restaurant and brewery in 1996 in Bel Air, Maryland. Countless brewing awards later, brewing operations moved to an expanded facility in Abingdon, Maryland to keep up with the growing demand for barrels of DuClaw Brewing Company’s ever growing line-up of specialty brews. DuClaw plans on moving to a new 167,000 square feet facility, located in Havre de Grace, Maryland, by October or November of this year (2012).
