Product Notes

We’re on a mission to explore the roots of Germany’s festival beers. Each year, we’ll partner with one of a handful of incredible German brewers to create a traditional take on the most famous beer style in history. This year we’re working hand in hand with Brauhaus Riegele of Augsburg. Together we created an authentic Oktoberfest beer, true to the roots of the festival, that’s deep golden in color and rich with complex malt flavor from the use of traditional German Steffi barley.

Nothing more than spending a rainy Saturday afternoon drinking some beers and reviewing them.

Aroma: A bit of floral in the aroma along with some toasty notes. A bit of caramel.

Look (Appearance): Pours gold with a creamy white head. Clear. Mild head retention.

Taste: I expected malt, malt and more malt. What I got was a baseline of maltiness being overshadowed by the mighty alpha of German Magnum hops. Maltiness is there but it is quickly overcome by IBU's past the upper limit for this style.

Mouthfeel: Medium body with a sweet breadiness that falls away quickly to a bitter finish. Not something I expected.

Second Look (Overall Impression): Not gonna lie. I am a bit disappointed in this beer. Perhaps it was my expectation of what a Festbier should be or looking at it wrong in that this is a very old style being brewed by a craft brewer known for their use of hops. Either way, it is what it is. Some will like it, some won't. I think my palate was looking one way, while this beer ran in the other direction.
