Karl Strauss Brewing Company
Back in the mid-1980s, San Diego was void of the thriving beer scene it has today. In fact, the city had not seen fresh beer since Prohibition, and the term “craft beer” didn’t exist. But that wasn’t going to stop Chris Cramer and Matt Rattner; two college buddies eager to change the status quo. Inspired by a brewpub Chris came upon while traveling through Australia, the pair had a dream: bring local, handcrafted beer back to San Diego. It was on February 2, 1989 that Karl Strauss Brewing Company officially opened its doors in downtown San Diego and kicked off the city’s craft beer industry. Happily, as Karl Strauss Brewing…

Bale Breaker Brewing Company
Bale Breaker Brewing Company is the newest craft brewery to open in the heart of our nation’s hop country, but while the brewery is new on the scene, the family behind the beer is not. The great-grandparents of owners Patrick Smith, Meghann Quinn, and Kevin Smith first planted hops in the Yakima Valley in 1932, the year before Prohibition ended. Now, 82 years later, their love of hops and passion for craft beer has led them to where they are today – in the midst of running a production brewery surrounded by their family’s hop fields, just down the road from where they were born and raised. Bale Breaker…

Eight Degrees Brewing Co Ltd
Our brewmasters have achieved something special. Yes, they do make some fantastic tasty beer – but more remarkable than that – they are unique examples of a Kiwi and an Aussie working together in semi-harmony…..well apart from the odd sporting differences Both Scott and Cam learnt how to make full flavoured beers as home brewers and then studied how to make these tasty beers consistently at the Versuchs und Lehranstalt fur Braurei (“VLB”) institute in Berlin. Cam, the Aussie, is trained as a chartered accountant – but more of an adventure seeking, sports crazed, beer loving kind of accountant than the nerdy, pale, office bound kind. Scott, the Kiwi, is…

Idle Hands Craft Ales, LLC
Idle Hands are the devil’s playground . . . There are many variations of this phrase, but they all follow the same theme: A person who doesn’t have something particular to occupy themselves will be tempted to occupy their time with mischief. From brewing beer to pairing it with locally sourced food, our love of these fine beverages keep us out of trouble (mostly). We hope that by enjoying one of our creations, you too will find something to do with your idle hands and keep you and your…
