Listing and Reviewing Rules

Listings:

  • First and foremost, make sure to include as much information about the beer as possible.  Search the web.
  • Make sure the beer is still be around.  Its hard for people to review a beer that noone can get.
  • When adding the listing make sure you have the beers entire name (brewery + beer name), for example “Schneider Aventinus” instead of just “Aventinus”.
  • Add to the listing any bottle copy (commercial descriptions and such) that you think is relavent.
  • There will be only one listing per beer, so please no (nitro, cask, or other versions) of the same recipe.

Reviews:

  • When reviewing a beer, please try and keep the beers style characteristics in mind.
  • When rating the beer, think of how the beer might be judged in a competition (style guidelines are available for each criteria by simply mousing over the information).
  • When reviewing, keep in mind the five elements of judging a beer (Aroma, Look, Taste, Mouthfeel and a second look).  Use those in your review whenever possible.
  • Please put some thought into your review.  Short reviews (“This beer sucks”, “Horse Piss”, etc) will not make the cut.  There will be a 100 character minimum (to make the review worthwhile). No boilerplate please.
