    Otley Brewing Company

    Believe it or not, it all started over a pint – the Otley boys propping up the bar after another long shift. We’d been “involved” in beer for as long as we could remember, and during a mid session moment of clarity it dawned on us that we should be brewing our own. So the stage was set, and a few weeks later three men fuelled with enthusiasm acquired an industrial unit – and with an ageing Toyota pick-up and a couple of bags of hops and malt founded their own little brewery.     Sharp’s Brewery

    Sharp’s Brewery was founded in 1994 at Rock, Cornwall.     Orval Trappist Ale

    Sunset-orange color; a fruity and slightly acidic bouquet, firm body, profound hop bitterness, and long, dry finish. Orval is bottled with Brettanomyces, a yeast strain that leads to superb dry complexity and ageworthiness. Excellent with a handmade cigar.

    Dark Star Partridge Best Bitter

    A Best Bitter brewed in a traditional Sussex style using Maris Otter, Crystal and Chocolate malts with East Kent Golding hops. Typical of Dark Star ales, the Best Bitter relies on the heavy handed addition of aromatic hops late in the boil.

    Dark Star Hophead

    An extremely clean-drinking pale golden ale with a strong floral aroma and elderflower notes from the Cascade hops. This beer is full-bodied and full-flavoured yet gentle enough to make it a favourite session beer.

    The Dark Star Brewing Company was born in 1994 in the cellar of The Evening Star Pub, in Brighton. With a brew plant only marginally bigger than an enthusiastic home-brew kit the characteristic style of hoppy beers was developed and tried out on the willing guinea pigs at the bar. Within a few hard working years it was obvious that the brewery could not keep up with the growing thirst of the Evening Star’s drinkers, yet alone the demand for its beers from other local pubs and beer festivals.
