    Achouffe N’ICE CHOUFFE

Our brewery, founded in 1982, is nestled in the green heart of the Belgian Ardennes, and specialises in brewing high quality speciality beers.  Our products are easily recognisable due to the friendly elf used to decorate the labels.  Elves and other goblins are amongst the most well known characters in myths and legends from the Ardennes. Our spearhead product is LA CHOUFFE, a golden blonde ale whose freshness and fruity taste really make it stand out.  Its dark sister, the Mc CHOUFFE, rightly deserves its title of  ‘Scotch of the Ardennes’;  its dark, full-flavoured texture is reminiscent of its Scottish cousins.

    Achouffe HOUBLON CHOUFFE

The HOUBLON CHOUFFE was brewed for the first time in 2006. It is an ‘Indian Pale ale’ type of beer, with a harmonious balance between a marked bitterness (three types of hops are used to make it) and a pleasant fruitiness. The HOUBLON CHOUFFE is unfiltered, and re-fermented in the bottle as well as in the keg.

LA CHOUFFE is an unfiltered blonde beer, which is re-fermented in the bottle as well as in the keg. It is pleasantly fruity, spiced with coriander, and with a light hop taste.

    Corsendonk Pater

Corsendonk Pater is brewed with roasted malt, hence its deep dark reddish brown color. It is a mellow, dark, top-fermented beer, re-fermented and matured in the bottle to obtain a lively, bubbly brew with a rich head and a long, complex finish.

    Corsendonk Christmas Ale

For this reddish brown Christmas beer, the Corsendonk brewer uses roasted special malts, the finest hops and selected yeasts, spiced up with a touch of coriander. With its delicate malty nose, Corsendonk Christmas Ale has everything only the very best Christmas beer could possibly offer: a round, balanced taste with a dry and refined aftertaste.

    Brouwerij Corsendonk NV

Corsendonk Abbey in Oud-Turnhout, Belgium was founded through the munificence of Maria van Gelre, youngest daughter of Jan III, Duke of Brabant. You may recall that Jan I (Jan Primus) is today better known as Gambrinus. The monks of Corsendonk started a brewery in 1400, which flourished until 1784 when the abbey was closed by Austrian ruler Jozef II. In 1906 Antonius Keersmaekers founded a secular brewery to revive the monks’ brewing traditions. His award winning beers included Pater Noster (Our Father), a full-bodied, high fermentation brew of exquisite palate. Antonius’ grandson Jef now continues the family tradition of brewing this award-winning abbey ale, under license from the current owners…
