Pear Tree House

Welcome to The Pear Tree House, or simply "The Peartree" as it's more informally known. Set in the heart of Edinburgh's Southside we've been supplying beers, whisky and all-round hospitality to the locals, students and visitors alike for over 250 years. Initially built as a rather glorious residential house and later pressed into service as the home of a world changing poet, headquarters of several brewing and distilling companies, and now one of the best loved and most charmingly traditional pubs in Edinburgh.

We're probably best known for our large cobbled courtyard and beer garden. Surrounded by flowers and home to some 45 handmade, local sourced and remarkably sturdy benches which become a focal point of the local community as soon as the sun comes out, a remarkably common event given our sheltered eastern location. The Scottish summer is always celebrated in style, with barbecues and bands performing on our custom build stage throughout the summer months, and an garden based bar taking the strain when we're at our busiest.
