    Maxim Brewery

    May 27, 2023 /

To brew the best beers possible requires the best brewery equipment available. Our 20 barrel brewery equipment was previously at the Canongate Brewery on the Royal Mile in Edinburgh’s historic Old Town. This was Scottish & Newcastle’s pilot brew house and as you would expect, was built to a very high specification. Indeed, it remains probably the best equipment of its size anywhere in the UK today. Our flexible Brewery with its special Lautering system allows us to brew between 3,000 and 17,000 pints per day and importantly ensures that we can maintain the highest quality and guarantee a regular supply of cask, keg and bottled beers to the drinkers…

Microbreweries, Nanobreweries, and Brewpubs: Histories of 241 American Craft Beer Companies

    May 23, 2023 /

In the mid-1980s, the American beer market offered far fewer options than what is available today. When microbreweries began to come onto the scene, distributors and retailers were skeptical of their new beers and did not believe that these new American brews would be able to compete with imports. Newer, smaller brewers also had to overcome antiquated laws and strong consumer brand loyalty to major domestic beers. After years of struggles, microbrewers established a foothold in the American beer market, popularized new and previously underappreciated styles, and set the stage for a massive proliferation of nanobreweries across the country. This book takes a look at these microbreweries--prime examples of American…

    May 16, 2023 /

Hi. We are a small independent brewery and taproom in the historic brewing town of Lewes. We love making everything from hop-forward IPAs and best bitters to saisons and imperial stouts. We also have a mixed fermentation project centered around a 5,000 litre oak foudre, which we use to create beers that showcase ingredients from the surrounding South Downs National Park, including native hops, wild yeast strains and grain grown just down the road.

    Can It You Ninny

    February 2, 2023 /

There seems to be a move afoot inside the craft beer world to start to showcase craft offerings in cans. Canningbeercan beers is not new, but up until the last few years it was really only the domain of the macro outfits. Now, with “Can in a van” and the move among some larger craft brewers to install canning lines, are we seeing a shift to craft brewer needing a can offering to stay competitive? What do you think of the explosion of can offerings? Choose the option that best reflects you feeling towards can offerings. (please let us know if we should add any more options)
