Located some 100 yards from York's famous Micklegate Bar, the premises are housed in a listed Georgian building which was the birthplace of Joseph Aloysius Hansom (1803 - 1882) - a renowned architect, inventor and designer of landscape gardens.
He designed the magnificent Birmingham Town Hall but is also renowned for inventing the Hansom Cab which he patented in 1834.
The spacious ground floor bar area leads to a more intimate carpeted lounge area whilst, upstairs is a period Georgian function/dining room capable of seating around 36 people. This is available for dining or for private hire.
York railway station is some 5 minutes walk away and the historic city centre itself only a short walk away from Brigantes.
